Provide credit to member nations during crisis and infrastructure development at lower rates. Improve trade opportunities. Can be beneficial to non-BRICS nations too. Support EU crises. Similar entity as IMF and World Bank.

Disagreements in BRICS
China is in disagreement over the structure and functioning of Development bank. China and Russia disagree resolutions in case of Syria and Sri Lanka. In UNSC reform India considers itself a potential candidate but China supported to South Africa. Russia says if IRAN conflict not tackled now, will have adverse affects on world oil prices.
