Aid Workers in Harms Way
World Humanitarian Day (August 19) recognizes the dedication and sacri ces of aid workers national and international personnel providing assistance in humanitarian contexts.

Since 2001, the number of aid worker victims who have been killed, wounded/injured, or kidnapped in security incidents has risen dramatically. The majority of these victims are national sta aid workers. Aid workers can be the targets of combatants or collateral casualties caught in the cross re of con icts, or they can be victims of criminal attacks, robberies, or kidnapping for ransom.
