Gods people, the Israelites, were living in Egypt.

When they first came, the king called pharaoh was kind to them. But many years later there was a new pharaoh who was cruel. O povo de Deus, os israelitas, estava vivendo no Egito. This pharaoh made the Israelites his slaves. He made them work very hard.

Then, pharaoh made a terrible new law: Every newborn baby boy must be thrown into the Nile river!

A woman named Jochebed had a baby boy. She carefully wrapped him in a blanket, placed him in a basket and set him afloat down the river.

Pharaohs daughter was taking a swim in the river when she saw the basket floating along. She opened it and found a cute little baby boy. She was delighted!

The river has brought me a baby! the princess squealed. I will keep him as my own son. I will call him Moses!

Miriam, the babys older sister came up and asked, Do you want me to get a Hebrew woman to take care of the baby for you? Yes, the princess answered. Miriam then brought the babys mother.

Pharaohs daughter hired Jochebed to feed and care for Moses when he was little. Moses was then raised and educated in Pharaohs house, and later was used by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. A filha de Fara contratou Jocabede para ser ama de leite e cuidar de Moiss. Dessa forma, Moiss foi criado na corte de Fara, e depois usado por Deus para guiar os israelitas para fora do Egito.
