V Continental Meeting of Indigenous Women of The Americas
opted by the Human Rights Council recognizes the human rightsofIndigenousPeoples,includingtherightofselfdetermination,rightsrelatedtolands, resourcesandterritoriesandpromotestherighttolivefreefromviolenceanddiscrimination; WHEREAS the United Nations Human Rights Council recommended this Declaration for immediateadoptionbytheUnitedNationsGeneralAssemblywhichdeferredconsiderationof this recommendation until no later than the end of its 61st session which is by September 2007;and WHEREASthe5thContinentalMeetingofIndigenousWomenoftheAmericas:Restoringour BalancehasfocusedontheimportanceofadvancingthehumanrightsofIndigenouswomen, their families and their communities. This Declaration is essential for achieving this goal as discussedbymanyparticipants, THEREFORE be it resolved that ENLACE calls upon all States within the Americas to vote in favoroftheimmediateadoptionoftheUnitedNationsDeclarationontheRightsofIndigenous PeoplesasadoptedbytheUnitedNationsHumanRightsCouncilin2006withoutamendment withoutdelay.
