BRAND NAME: Calm-X, Dimetabs, Gravol, Hydrate, Nauseatol, Novo-Dimenate
CLASSIFICATION: Antiemetic, antihistamine, anticholinergic

2. Dose range and routes for adult & geriatric client.

PREPARATIONS: PO/IM/IV/SC

DOSING: Analgesia Adult (PO) 50 - 100mg q4h


(IM/IV) 50mg q4h as needed

3. Purpose prescribed. Underline reason your client is prescribed drug.

USES: motion sickness, nausea, vomiting

4. Major side effects & drug interactions.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: increased effect; alcohol, other CNS depressants

5. Nursing Implications & teaching.

• A false-negative result may occur with skin testing; these procedures should not be scheduled for 4 days after
discontinuing use.
• Avoid hazardous activities, activities requiring alertness; dizziness may occur; instruct patient to request assistance with
ambulation
• Avoid alcohol and other depressants.
