    THE HISTORY OF GRIOT 1.0.

    Introduction

    Africa is known for the big size of it continent and the regional diversities. We can see many aspects from this big continent in today performing arts because of the rich cultural heritage. Differ from the European written history that recorded almost everything, it is amazing to see how they preserve their tradition and history despite their lack of writing ability. The basic idea about the griot is that they keep their culture, history, old legends and many other stories related to their society with oral basis tradition. However, the starting point for this group is still hard to trace because of the oral tradition have some defect in it practice. In order to have a better understanding about the griot, this report will touch about the historical and social background of the group and how it all started. The African continent is quite big and there must be cultural crossroads occurred between them and other ethnic group. The music aspect of this oral tradition is interesting to be review because of the usage of their native musical instrument. A few instruments were used, but kora is the most famous instrument related to the tribe and is an important aspect to be review to dig deep in the world of griot.
