27 August, 2012 PRESS RELEASE CANDIDATE CALLS FOR CLEAN CAMPAIGN Candidate for the upcoming Hume City

Council Elections, Stephen Coughlan, has called on all Candidates to run Campaigns based on issues, and move away from petty personal attacks, such as those that have dominated previous Council Elections. The City of Hume is a diverse one, with a Population in excess of 170 000 people, and an Operating Budget of $184 000 000. The people of this City deserve more than a popularity contest when it comes to Local Council Elections. said Mr Coughlan. I propose that each and every Candidate pledge to run a clean campaign, focused on the issues that matter to the People, and without any personal attacks on other Candidates. Let the Policies speak for themselves. The first such Policy I intend to implement, if successful, is to heavily lobby the State Government to extend the 901 Smart Bus from Melbourne Airport to Sunbury. The benefits of this are manyfold. This service would replace in some way the recent loss of the Bulla to Sunbury School Bus Service, would provide a legitimate Public Transport option for those Sunbury Residents who work at Melbourne Airport , cement Sunbury as a Gateway to Melbourne Airport for travellers from Central Victoria via the Vline train service, and lastly connect the East and West of the Municipality.
