Note: Students may be placed in Internship. Course Description The Advanced Film & Video Production course continues the focus on short independent films that are service-learning projects for the school and community. Students are also introduced to TV Production. Students Continue preparation for Final Cut Studio Certification. Students are given opportunities to participate in Internships with Film and Video Production companies.

Course Description The Film & Video Production course is digital story telling for short films. Stories are based on school and community events. Students begin preparation for Final Cut Certification. Students learn how to create short stories and apply them to the 4 stages of Film Production. Students learn how to brainstorm, write scripts, plan storyboards, and create production schedules in the Pre Production Stage. In the Production Stage, students apply their knowledge of cameras, lighting, and sound as learned in the Film Production Semester course. In the Post Production stage, Film 1 students advance their skills in Final Cut Pro. Students will edit with Final Cut, Soundtrack Pro, Motion, Color, Compressor, and DVD Studio Pro. Students then prepare for the last stage of film production where they present their films for public viewing.

Film & Video Production I is the first in sequence of courses in the Film & TV Pathway at John Glenn High School. This course offers an exploration through the stages of production and the process of filmmaking. Students enrolled in this course will explore 6 modules where they will learn the different aspects and responsibilities required to produce short films. The modules they will rotate through are camera operation and filming techniques, lighting subjects and green screen, sound recording and editing, script writing and storyboarding, video editing, and talent delivery. Students will produce one broadcast show per rotation.

The Film & Video Production II course is a yearlong course. It is a foundation course in the Film & TV Pathway at John Glenn High School. Students will learn how to set up cameras, film techniques, lighting design for various scenes, sound recording techniques, production crew responsibilities, and how to import digital film in a hands on lab environment. Students also learn how to import digital film in a computer lab environment. Students are introduced to Final Cut Pro to prepare them for student film editing in the Film & Video Production III course. Students learn the basics of film editing, music and sound editing, how to export digital videos for various movie formats, and how to prepare multimedia for the web in a computer lab environment.
