ESSENTIAL A good general education

Experience

Evidence of having worked with children in some capacity; this could be as a parent/ carer.

Qualities, skills, knowledge and abilities

References

A positive interest in working with children, especially teenagers; Ability to get the best out of children; Awareness of what special educational needs means; A sense of humour; Compassion; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to build good working relationships with a range of colleagues; A clear communicator; Ability to work calmly, with patience and perseverance. A good attendance record; Evidence of the stamina required to cope with the demands of the post. 2 references; Supportive.

DESIRABLE Evidence of qualifications in the field of S.E.N.; G.C.S.E. or equivalent at B grade or above in Maths and English; Education to A Level or equivalent and beyond; Qualifications in ICT. Relevant work experience in a similar environment; Experience of working with children with SEN, preferably at secondary age. An interest in ICT; An awareness of Every Child Matters;
