THANK YOU: The students of the Rodlyn Fisher Basic School in Granville, St. James, show off their back-to-school supplies generously donated by The Fisher Family Group of Companies. Sharing in the moment are Kim Hylton, Branch Manager for the Jamaican arm The Rodlyn Fisher Basic School in Granville, St. James, was on Monday the recipient of back-to-school supplies, donated by New York-based accounting and tax-return firm, The Fisher Family Group of Companies. The Fisher Group.. A member of The Fisher Family Group of Companies Inc.

The company, which has adopted the institution for the past year and half, donated over 36 school items valued at some US$1,300. These included flash cards and books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, glue sticks, holepunchers, chalk, crayons, stencils, markers and copy papers among many more. The group also installed chalkboards, ceiling fans, cupboards and shelves. So, we have given anything and everything that the kids will need other than their textbooks and lunch money, thats the only thing parents would have to find, said Kim Hylton, Client Coordinator and Branch Manager for the Jamaican arm of Fisher group. Hylton, who is a past student, explained that the next step was to secure the school ground, so as to prevent theft of the items, and called on past students everywhere, especially those from the Granville community, to play their part in this regard. Principal Elaine Brown-Heath said teachers, students and even parents were grateful for the generous donations. This term will be a wonderful term for the school, even for the parents as they are happy to see what is happening because they are getting all their back-to-school stuff and dont have to purchase it, she explained. Since adopting school, the group has supported many of the schools activities including fairs and fun days. The firm also awards scholarships to the two top students moving on to the primary-level. The school was founded in 1955 by Rodlyn Fisher, after whom the institution is named. Hyltons father is chairman of the school board. He is on his way to retirement so we are trying to take over. We the younger boys have decided to take up the mantle of funding the school, said Hylton. As young men, who all came to the same school, we are trying to make a difference to the school and in the life of the kids of the future, he added. Hylton stated the credit should be given to Co-CEOs Lionel Fisher and Michael Fisher in helping source much of the items.
