Commensalism
A relationship between one partner (the commensal) benefits while the other (the host) does not receive any benefit or harm.
Example
A remora fish often found attached under a shark, gets free transport, and feeds on food scraps left by the shark without harming the shark.
Hydroids are found attached to the shells of hermit crabs. The hydroids obtain food particles plus a free ride from the crab and the crab without any benefits or harm.
Mutualism
An interaction between two different species of organisms which benefits both organisms.
Example
An alga and a fungus form a lichen. The alga produces food and the fungus provides shelter
A sea anemone get food and free transport from hermit crab and hermit crab gets protection from the anemone sting.
Parasitism
There is a parasite and a host. The parasite benefits from living outside or in the host. The host is harms or may be even be killed by the parasite.
Example
The predator which is normally bigger in size hunts, kills and feeds on the smaller, hunted animals called prey. Predator have good vision, sharp claws, strong beaks, a good sense of smell, powerful jaws and sharp teeth. Can run more faster than their prey. Predators are carnivores while the prey maybe are omnivores or herbivores.
