Guidelines for Synopsis

Synopsis, preferably, should be of about 3-4 pages. The content should be as brief as is sufficient enough to explain the objective and implementation of the project that the students are going to take up. The students must adhere to the guidelines and should include the following in the given order. 1. Topic of the Project: This should be explicitly mentioned at the beginning of the Synopsis. Since the topic itself gives a peep into the project to be taken up, students are advised to be prudent on naming the project. This being the overall impression of the future work, the topic should corroborate the work. 2. Objective/Aim/Vision: This should give a clear picture of the project. Objective should be clearly specified. 3. Market Potential & Competitive advantage/Scope: When the project ends up, it should give a clear picture how it is going to help the society. Additionally, include the market value of the project in the synopsis. Also mention, the end users who are going to use your project. 4. Process Description/Methodology Adopted: The development process of the entire proposed software system has to be stated in brief. Summarize the methodology that has to be adopted for the project development. This may be supported by DFD's / Flowcharts. 5. Resources: The requirement of the resources for designing and developing the proposed system must be given. The resources have to be in the form of the hardware / software or the data from the industry. 6. Limitations: All the possible limitations of the proposed system in terms of a bigger and comprehensive system must be included. 7. Duration: Specify the time duration (in weeks) which the project will take to complete. 8. Role specification: Specify the division of project work among the group members. 9. References: Mention about the book, URLs or journals that students are going to refer for project in standard format. Format is written below Books: Author (S) e.g. If Author name is Stephen Robbins, then it will be written as [1] Robbins Stephen, title, Place of Publication, Publisher, Year of Publication, Number of pages referred from ________to_______ Magazine & Journals/ Newspaper Author(S), Title of__________, Volume Number, Serial Number, Year of issue, Page number Internet

Name of the site, Article Name, Name of the Author Page Specification: Left Margin: 3.0 cms Right Margin: 3.0 cms Top Margin: 2.7 cms Bottom Margin: 2.7 cms Paper Size: A4 All text pages should be numbered at the bottom centre of the pages.

Text Specification: Normal Body Text: Font Size: 12, Times New Roman, Single Spacing, Justified. 3 point above and below paragraph spacing Paragraph Heading: Font Size: 14, Times New Roman, Underlined, Left Aligned. 6 point above & below spacing. Chapter Heading: Font Size: 20, Times New Roman, Centre Aligned,12 point above and below spacing.
