one of the 10 isomers of atracurium besylate Molecular weight: Cisatracurium: 929.2 Cisatracurium besylate: 1243.51 pH: Cisatracurium injection: 3.25 to 3.65.

Cisatracurium : Abstracts
A non-depolarizing skeletal muscle relaxant
Used as an adjunct to general anesthesia It is intermediate in its onset and duration of

action Provides muscle relaxation during surgery, medically assisted breathing, or insertion of a breathing tube It is Neuromuscular Blocking Agent and belongs to benzylisoquinolinium class

Cisatracurium is one of the ten isomers of the parent

molecule, atracurium Cisatracurium represents approximately 15% of the atracurium mixture Cisatracurium is given as an injection through a needle placed into a vein or muscle i.e.- generally in hospital or surgical setting Contraindicated to use in premature infants and patients with known hypersensitivity

Dosing Forms And Strengths:

Injectable Solution:
2 mg/ml
10 mg/ml

Possible side effects of Cisatracurium

Serious Side Effects

slow heart rate noisy breathing, feeling short of breath ongoing muscle weakness, or inability to move your muscles
feeling light-headed mild itching or skin rash; or warmth, redness, or tingly feeling under your skin

Less serious Side Effects

Neuromuscular Blocking Agent

This blocks neuromuscular transmission and causes

paralysis of the muscle Neuromuscular blocking agents are used as an adjunct to anesthesia Neuromuscular blocking agents are used in the ICU setting for 3 reasons:
i.

ii.

iii.

to eliminate spontaneous breathing and promote mechanical ventilation Cause a pharmacologic restraint so patients do not harm themselves To decrease oxygen consumption
