Voters in Arizonas 9th Congressional District Roughly two months before Election Day, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema holds a five-point lead over Republican Vernon Parker, 48% - 43%. Both candidates faced competitive primaries in late August, and the impact of their primary communications has not dissipated heading into the general election. Sinema and Parker have boosted their profiles in the newly-drawn district during their primaries and enter the general election with 70%+ name identifications. The 9th district has a Democratic edge President Obama won this district with 52% of the vote in 2008, despite Arizona Senator John McCain on the ticket. President Obama currently has a four-point lead over Mitt Romney, 50% - 46%.

Kyrsten Sinema leads Vernon Parker by five-points, similar to President Obamas performance Sinema leads Parker 48% - 43% with two months to go until Election Day.

Both candidates are well-known by voters, but Sinemas standing is better than Parkers Nearly three-quarters of voters (73%) are familiar with Sinema and she has a netfavorable rating, 34% favorable 20% unfavorable. Vernon Parker is similarly well-known (70% name ID), and his popularity rating is 29% favorable 19% unfavorable.

Anzalone Liszt Research conducted N=400 live telephone interviews with likely 2012 general election voters in Arizonas 9 th CD. Interviews were conducted between September 9 - 11, 2012. Respondents were selected at random, with interviews apportioned geographically based on past voter turnout. Expected margin of sampling error is 4.9% with a 95% confidence level.
