THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA NATIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SERVICE CENTER ON GLOBAL AGING THE THIRD BIENNIAL

BILL BECHILL MEMORIAL LECTURE

Description: The Center on Global Aging will focus its 2012/13 training efforts on elder abuse. Each year as many as five million older adults are injured, exploited, or otherwise mistreated by someone they depend on for care, who often is a family member and loved one. Forms of elder abuse include: physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect by self or other, emotional or psychological abuse, financial exploitation, or abandonment. Important issues include recognizing elder abuse, accessing sources of help, knowing how to report abuse, and prevention.
