LOCAL WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON VOLUNTEERING FOR 16-24 YEAR OLDS
Volunteering can increase your employability, enhance your studies, boost your social life and improve your physical and mental wellbeing. You know all this? Ok, well did you know that you can make a difference to the local community, wildlife and heritage all at the same time and all on your doorstep? Canals are green corridors for some of Britains most endangered species, they are tranquil and exhilarating community spaces for everyone to enjoy and they are a vital part of our heritage. Waterways Action Squad is the Youth Engagement programme from Canal & River Trust. We specialise in creating useful and worthwhile volunteering experiences for young people and we recognise that for busy young people time is precious. Thats why were offering commitment free volunteering in your area on a Wednesday afternoon. Activities could include vegetation management such as removing invasive species and cutting back trees, towpath maintenance such as path building, habitat improvements such as putting up bat boxes and hedgelaying, and heritage preservation such as dry-stone walling and lime-mortaring.
