EVENTS Character Prisons and cemeteries are essential to all colonies.

The prison, cemetery, and church were built on land Isaac Johnson provided. Theres a rose-bush growing along the side of the prison door which serves as a blessing to the criminals. They believed that the wild rose bush had sprung when Anne Hutchinson entered the prison.

Symbolism *The rose-bush may symbolize some sweet moral blossom, that may be found along the track, or relieve the darkening close of a tale of human frailty and sorrow.

Comes from a novel by Sir Thomas Moore about a perfect society. ALLOT: to divide or distribute in shares. SEASONABLE: timely or opportune. SEPULCHRES: a burial vault built of rock or stone. PONDEROUS: weighty or clumsy. CONGENIAL: pleasant, friendly. INAUSPICIOUS: not prosperous. PORTAL: a doorway of imposing appearance.
