1. Do you think Roy would be a good supervisor? Yes certainly Roy would be a good supervisor. 2. What qualities does Roy posses that support your answer? Roy exhibits most of the qualities of a good supervisor. Good interpersonal skills. Roy is famous with the members of union as well as with the management of the company. His good reputation is result of strong interpersonal skills. Good basic management skills Roy was president of union in the past. As well as recently he was elected president recently. He must have exhibited good management skills during his earlier tenure, which gave the union enough confidence to re-elect him. Respect for all It is mentioned that Roy is respected by the members of union and by the management. Respect is developed mutually, Roy respects people as developing professionals and is sensitive to their individual differences (e.g. gender, race, ethnicity) Comfortable of being in-charge- Good supervisors should be comfortable with the authority and evaluative functions inherent in the supervisor role, giving clear and frequent indications of their evaluation of the counselor's performance. Roy is an active member of the union and has performed well when given the authority. 3. Do you agree with Bill Lindsays statement that a good supervisor just needs to know how to handle people? Although handling people is a big part of being supervisor, there are other things which makes a good supervisor. The qualities like good interpersonal skills, good basic management skills, respect to all and comfortable with the authority are also required to be a good supervisor. 4. What do you think the reaction of the employees would be if Roy accepted the job? Roy has been with the company for a long time. He is well experienced in work as well as has exhibited good interpersonal skills. Roy understands the employees and have fought for their rights with the management from time to time. The employees will be happy to see a person from among themselves as their supervisor. The employees will be motivated to work hard in order to get promotions, as they have a precedence to see hard work pays.
