CITY OF PLEASANT HILL

POLICE DEPARTMENT _______________________________________________

PRESS RELEASE
EVENT: Prescription Drug Take Back Event DATE/TIME: Saturday, September 29, 2012 10 a.m to 2 p.m. LOCATION: Pleasant Hill Police Department, 330 Civic Drive, Pleasant Hill, CA CONTACT: Lieutenant Peter Enea at 925 288 4610 INFORMATION: The Pleasant Hill Police Department will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on the national Take Back prescription drug event on September 29, 2012. People with unwanted, expired, or unused prescription drugs or over the counter medicine may bring these items to the Pleasant Hill Police Department lobby for disposal on Saturday, September 29, 2012 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This service is free and no questions are asked of persons disposing of medications. The following items are not accepted: syringes or pre-packaged injectable medications with needles and illicit drugs. Medicines and drugs may be dropped off in the original containers. This event is meant to provide a public service for the community as improper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs and medicine may present environmental concerns. Additionally, unwanted prescription drugs and medicine can be a household hazard, particularly for households with small children. The Pleasant Hill Police Department already operates a pharmaceutical drop off program in conjunction with the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District and participation in this event is a supplement to our regular efforts on this issue.
