Minor Project Proposal Adam Webb

Type of Project: Character Design pipeline Area of Study: Tribal African myth and Sci Fi Potential Ideas: 1. I am interested to incorporate the African myth of Nyaminyami the River God and I have also thought of concept where the main hero is exiled/ abandoned on an unknown planet that has primitive temples, culture, etc to give clues of a civilisation living there and felt the two could interconnect like Star Gate that merges Sci Fi with Egyptian.
2. The character could be spirit like so that it appears more divine, as a form of

worship 3. Could transform or appear from an object such as an African tribal mask 4. As well as having the form of a serpent it could be a hybrid of different water creatures to create the feel that it is of the sea instead of simply appearing there. Outcomes and Goals: My aim for this particular project is to have a stronger chain of work to show development since the transcription. I want to be able to achieve each section of the pipeline so I am aware of the full development so that I can work faster and more confidently in future projects. The outcome of this project would be to have a fully completed modelled character with textures and lighting alongside a complete turnaround for my demo reel. The character will be for a game at a standard of a Play station or Xbox standard for an age limit of 16 and above. I want to make Nyaminyami close to what it has been described as in the original text but incorporate this as a Sci Fi alien creature that would feature as a boss character in the particular game. I would also like to make some props such as statues and significant artefacts to create the impression of the place that the creature would inhabitant. I have also considered moving forward with this character in the Major project in terms of rigging and animating or making a character alongside this one that connects to the same idea, world and design value.
