What are some different types of land use planning?

Transit-oriented design - plans that put walking communities close to public transportation like trains or buses Mixed-use strategies - development of many types of building and services close together, so people dont have to use cars City Growth Boundaries - putting a border around the city of trees and plants so the city doesnt get too big

Development - trying to put people in a village, town or city in a more efficient way

Greenways

- making parks, trails, and forests in a village, town, or city

Agricultural Land Protection - protecting the land that gives us food or clothes Brownfield Redevelopment - turning land that is empty or polluted into land that can be used

In the 1960s, many people were moving to Curitiba for work, and the city was becoming crowded Additionally, the slums, or poorest areas of the city, were growing and people were in need of proper food, shelter, transportation and education A planning team, led by a university student, came together to think of how the city could grow in a way that would be good for people and the environment

The planners came up with many creative solutions for their city, making it one of the most sustainable and livable cities in the world today
