Early Stringed Instruments: Science, Sheep Gut and Souls.
Plucked, bowed or hammered, strings have dominated music for millennia. This presentation examines our ancient obsession with vibrating strings and how early cultures adapted stringed instruments for their musical preferences. John McWilliams, Associate Professor of Natural Science at Oklahoma Baptist University will be presenting a program on the art, science and history of early music. He and his wife Sherry perform as Rose Rock Consort at Medieval Fair and other venues. He also makes his own historically accurate instruments.
