JV Blue vs.

Katy Taylor
It took a while to break the Mustangs, but the constant pounding of the running game finally broke through for the first win of the season. Aaron Hunt carried most of the load with some good solid runs by Jahleel Blocker, and a scramble by Aiden Upchurch. A good running game needs good blocking, and the O line was solid. Dustin Smith and company constantly opened up the middle for big chunks of yardage. Aaron Hunt had 3 touchdowns for the Bearkats scoring, and Alex Ables tacked on 3 extra points. Upchurch along with receivers Jack McHugh and Trayvien White had good yards to keep the drives alive. The defense was solid and came up big in several situations. Dakota Aplanalp had a couple of sacks and big hits forcing a fumble. Dominique Morgan also had a sack to keep pressure on Katy Taylor. Alec Matthews broke up a pass, as did Ronnie Gaydos and Grant Bradley. Tim McHugh had a big interception to stop a drive in the 3rd quarter. Near the end of the game Taylor scored and went for 2 to tie it, but the defense showed good pursuit and closed the edge causing a fumble and denying the extra points sealing the victory. Bearkats 21 Mustangs 19.
