    SERIOUS INJURY ACCIDENT

    On 09/29/12 at 1908 hours the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to the report of a serious injury accident near the intersection of Wealthy St and Visser Pl SE. The accident involved a motorcycle and a pedestrian. According to witnesses the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Wealthy St and struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The motorcycle driver and the pedestrian were transported to Saint Marys Hospital with life threatening injuries. Alcohol and speed appear to be a factor in this crash for the motorcycle driver. He was not wearing a helmet. The names of the motorcycle driver and the pedestrian are being withheld pending notification of family members. The Grand Rapids Police Department Special Services Unit continues to investigate this accident. Anyone with information about this incident that hasnt already spoken with investigators are asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department Special Services Unit at 456-3771.
