Baltimore Police Warn of Possible New Scam October 1, 2012 / Baltimore, MD- On Friday September 28, 2012 at approximately 3:15 pm, three individuals represented themselves as Water Department Employees and entered an elderly womans residence in the 700 block of S. Ellwood Avenue. The homeowner was not injured and no property was taken. A possible theory by detectives is that the three individuals were conducting research within the home for valuables and would return when the homeowner wasnt home. The description of the individuals is as follows: 1) A white male in his 30s, 58, 160 pounds, tan complexion, a white hard hat, reflective construction vest and jeans 2) A white male in his 30s, 61, 190 pounds, black shirt, black pants, black baseball hat and a tan complexion 3) A white male 40-50 years, 58, 200 pounds, black shirt black pants, baseball hat and black gloves It is also believed these individuals may have followed the elderly woman from a local Grocery Store in the Southeast District. Reminder: 1) Most Baltimore City Water meters are located in the front of the house 2) Department of Public Works Employees are issued identification cards If you have reason to believe individuals requesting entrance inside of your home are not city employees, ask to see their identification. In the past, individuals have also represented themselves as Baltimore Gas and Electric employees. Please call 911 if you feel suspicious or need immediate assistance by a police officer.
