    Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy and became a sailor at age ten. In 1492, he led an expedition across the Atlantic Ocean with three ships - the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria - and a crew of about ninety sailors. While he did not discover North America, he did find South America and islands in the Caribbean, returning to Spain to widespread acclaim. He made three additional voyages to the new world, taking his son Ferdinand on the fourth trip, before passing away in 1506 still believing he had found a western route to Asia rather than a new continent.

    Christopher Columbus was born on 1451 Genoa,Italy he was the oldest child of the five children.

    He becomes a sailor!!!!
    Christopher became a sailor at the age of ten . The first place he went to was Lisbon and married Dona felipa perestrello daughter of a experienced sea captain. Christophers first voyage across the Atlantic consisted three ships : the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. He will set sail with about ninety sailors he will leave on August 3, 1492 . He built a fort in the land now called Haiti and returned to Spain, and was welcomed as a hero. He made three more voyages to the new world , taking his son, Ferdinand on his fourth trip. Contrary to popular belief , Christopher never discovered North America, only the outlying islands. He did only discover south America but when he died in 1506, he did not know that he discovered a new continent.
