BITE MY TONGUE YOU ME AT SIX POSTMODERNISM

There is obvious use of post modernistic ideals within the video through: Escape from convention: The narrative of the storyline ties in every character through the manipulation of the bands vocalist. Conventionally bands stay dethatched from narrative whilst this band is the full focus of the narrative. This is reinforced by the establishing shot being the vocalists face. Giving the vocalist the upper hand brings attention mainly to him through the manipulation of the band. While this is convention, members of a band are seen to be equal members while in this video the vocalist is obviously portrayed as the strongest character in the video at the point. The use of aesthetics works effectively in a postmodern effect through the hanging limbs of the characters. This could strongly be said to be a postmodern piece of art. The dark and depressing scenes with songs that are minor are not conventional of music videos which are known to give a view of the bands personality which would usually speak up of the band, this music video shows very vividly the bad times and how the vocalist manipulated the band to be who he wants them to be. The use of a recording studio ironically reinforces the idea of bad time within the music studio, this is not conventional due to the fact that most bands portray working in a music studio in a pleasant manor. It is unconventional to have a band member being undermined by a character out of the band, in this video Oli Sykes literally throws Josh Francheschi out of the way of the microphone, this is a very unconenventional and postmodern idea. INTRATEXTUALITY/INTERTEXTUALITY: Reference to the recording studio being a inner reference to other bands and their music. The use of Oli Sykes enhances the idea of intertextuality due to his role in Bring Me the Horizon.
