Last year over 500,000 volunteers worldwide collected over 8 million pounds of trash. Volunteers should register online and are asked to bring their own kayaks, canoes, gloves, and nets if possible to access remote areas along the shoreline and waterways.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers will participate in the Ocean Conservancys International Coastal Cleanups, the worlds largest volunteer event of its kind. Last year over 500,000 volunteers from 114 countries and 45 states cleared over 8 million pounds of trash from oceans and waterways and recorded every piece of trash collected.
