    Gillibrand to visit Yonkers science barge Oct. 8 U.S. Sen.

    Kirsten Gillibrand will tour the Yonkers Science Barge before announcing a new federal investment for the Yonkers-based nonprofit environmental group and barge operator Groundwork Hudson Valley at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at 99 Dock St. The funds from the U.S. Department of Agricultures Community Food Project will be used to help young people learn about organic farming, business and employment skills while providing affordable fresh produce to city residents by at a local farmers market and on the barge, a floating environmental education center anchored in the Hudson River off the citys downtown pier.
