Activity 1: SINGING A NATIONAL DAY RHYME Aims: -To make a flag To sing and act out a rhyme To associate

language and actions To develop concentration and memory skills To promote enjoyment in rhyme and song Language focus: Reading skill Materials: Jalur Gemilang flags, National Day rhyme in Microsoft Power Point Procedure: 1. Give out Jalur Gemilang flags to each pupil. The pupils colour the flags and tape the flags on to the sticks. 2. After the flags are ready, project a rhyme of National Day onto the screen. 3. Ask the pupils to read the rhyme. 4. Then, using the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, they sing the rhyme doing the actions and wave the flags at the same time. Strengths: This activity is an enjoyable way as children sing a rhyme to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star which is a familiar song. The rhyme can be used to raise childrens awareness about the importance of loving the country. Weaknesses: There are some pupils who are shy to sing.

Activity 2: VERBS SEARCH Aims:- To search verbs in the rhyme To make sentences according to the verbs found in the rhyme Language focus: Reading and writing skills; verbs Materials: A task sheet which contains a table to be filled up by writing down the verbs found and forming sentences for every verb. Verbs Sentences

Procedure: 1. Give out a piece of paper contains the rhyme of National Day. 2. Ask the pupils to read and look for verbs from the rhyme. 3. List down the verbs in the box provided, then make sentences which are appropriate to the verbs. Strength: The pupils are encouraged to learn the verbs and make appropriate sentences. Weakness: Some pupils may not know what verbs are and unable to identify the verbs.
