How can I become a 'reflective practitioner' as a teacher in the Malaysian conte xt over the next five years?

The teaching profession as well as other professions like nursing and pharmacy, has been putting an emphasis on reflective thinking as a necessary skill to acqu ire professional competence. This shift is largely influenced by the work of the orists and researchers namely Donald Schon, Dewey and Michael Wallace. According to their research, the act of being reflective of one's practice is necessary i f one desires to be an effective professional. This essay will be dealing with h ow I can become a 'reflective practitioner' over the next five years. The first part of the essay should generally reflect my understanding of the concepts of ' reflective practice' and 'reflective practitioner'. I will then compare and con trast two models of reflective models, namely The Reflective Model and The Appli ed Science Model. Finally, I will give two practical examples of professional ac tivities that I might engage in namely, the workshops and keeping a teaching jou rnal.
