Create a uniform high wake on propellers [high (1-w)] + minimal thrust deductio n [low (1-t)] = high hull efficiency (1-t)/(1-w) A compromise has to be found with the lower propeller efficiency (Ct increases) and the higher wetted surface (higher frictional resistance). On the other hand twin screw lightly loaded propellers than just a single one., no shaft and 2-3 % power savings. Maneuverability ! (twin rudder with Costa Bulb).
