Salt Water and Eggs

Aim: My aim is to complete a successful science experiment and get the egg to float in salt water. Independent Variable: The amount of salt we are going to put in the water. Dependent Variable: How high the egg floated. Controlled Variable: How much salt put in each time? Hypothesis: I think that the more salt I put the more higher it will float. And if I put too less or not enough then it will stay the same. Equipment: 1 Egg A tall Glass Salt Tablespoon Water Ruler

Method:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Pour water into the glass half way. Add one tablespoon of salt in it. Dissolve the salt mix well. Put the egg in carefully Measure the how high the egg is. Take the egg out Add another tablespoon of salt in Dissolve and mix well And so on, until you want to stop.

Results Table:
Amount of salt added 1 tablespoon 2 tablespoons 3 tablespoons 4 tablespoons 5 tablespoons How High it Floats(cm) NOTHING 6.5 8.0 8.5 8.5

Conclusion:
After doing this experiment I know that the more salt you add the higher the egg will go but there is a limit. I observed that the egg rose higher when I put in the second table spoon of salt. Though after 5 tablespoons it did not change anymore. I think this happened because the more salt you give the heavier it becomes which causes the egg o rise.
