Brand Names: ETH-Oxydose, OxyContin, Oxyfast, OxyIR, Percolone, Roxicodone, Roxicodone Intensol Generic Name: oxycodone (Pronunciation: ox i KOE done)

OXYCODONE DESCRIPTION
A white, odorless crystalline powder derived from the opium alkaloid, thebaine. Oxycodone hydrochloride dissolves in water (1 g in 6 to 7 mL).

It is slightly soluble in alcohol (octanol water partition coefficient 0.7).

OPIUM ALKALOIDS
The six opium alkaloids which occur naturally in the largest amounts are morphine, narcotine, codeine, thebaine, papaverine and narceine. The alkaloids of the poppy plant are the same as those of opium, belong to one species of poppy, Papaver somniferum.

MECHANISM
