Pedestrian Improvements
Increased pedestrian safety Safer vehicle turns

In mid-October DOT will be making short-term improvements on North Flatbush Avenue to provide pedestrian safety benefits in anticipation of an upcoming capital construction project (in 2014) that will expand curb lines and sidewalks. The short-term improvements include:
Improving intersections to slow down turning vehicles Painting sidewalk extensions at five Flatbush Avenue intersections including Bergen Street, St. Marks Avenue, Prospect Place, Sterling Place and St. Johns Place Expanding pedestrian space at the Carlton Ave/Park Place intersection Adding plastic bollards to define pedestrian space

Implementation starts the week of October 15
