IGNORING THE ISSUE

Arguing and giving an erroneous conclusion.
Ones ignorance of the matter being

considered.
Ignoring the Disproof (ignoratio elenchi) Mistaking the question

IGNORING THE ISSUE

Irrelevant conclusion
Arguing beside the point Evading the issue All these means the same: one does not

prove or disprove the point

Example:
Ex1: Yonardo is a native of a far-flung interior barrio; Therefore, he knows nothing about the underlying principles of politics. Reasoning: Just because he came from a province doesnt mean that he does not know anything about politics

Ex2: In a press conference, a political

candidate is asked a pointed, specific question about some potentially illegal fundraising activity. Instead of answering the allegations, the candidate gives a rousing speech thanking all of his financial supporters. The speech was eloquent and moving, but shifted the focus from the issue at hand.
Reasoning: Did not answer the original question

Ex3: Evolutionists think that everything

came about by random chance. How could that be?
