    Presently Installed: 185.5GWatt 5th largest in World Per capita consumption:778KWh

    Avg. Per capita consumption of world:2600KWh; 6200Kwh for European Union countries But India:778KWh!!! 35-45% transmission loss(highest in world!!) Power failure, poor regulation

    What Are They Thinking??

    GDP at present:6.9% & expected 7.6% after this fiscal year(2012-13) Stress given on more industry customs duty exemption on imported fuel and lower levy on overseas funds for projects to provide relief to crisis-hit power sector. More private investment. India needs at least $135billion to produce 600-1200GW within next 40 years ,which is urgent.

    1.35000 KM^2 Thar desert is sufficient in generating 700 to 2100GW solar power .It can meet the increasing demand of modern India 2. India is suffering from acute T&D loss of 35% almost. For a standard power system it is 78%.Modern technologies should be invented. 3.More dependence on Wind power surrounding sea area.

    West Bengal Green Energy Corporation Limited (WBGECL), the states nodal renewable energy agency, has outlined investments worth Rs 700-750 crore over the next two to three years.(within 2012-13). Katwa thermal power project of 1600 MW by NTPC. 1600MW power project by L&T Power. 2*600MW DVC project at Raghunathpur. 2*250MW DPL Project 2*660MW WBPDCL project at murshidabad.

    CLEAN ENERGY
    West Bengal playing major role in Solar& Biomass energy.10% of total power consumption of Howrah will be from Solar energy. Total 28MW biomass power plant at North dinajpur, Birbhum & Burden by pvt. Organizations.
