Methodology

Water is filled to Tank T32 up to and just below the level of the lowest level probe of the level switch LS32 and the valves is ensured to follow the start-up check list and preliminary exercises contained in the lab manual.

The first trial PID values is set and then switched on the recorder (LFR31). The pump P32 is switched on and the level (PV1) increases.

First trial(SV1) LIC31, PID1, Loop1 a) First (I) Trial PID SETPOINT (SV1): 200-600 mm PB1 : 30% TI1 : 25 secs TD1 : 0 sec PH1 : 640 mm (Do not change this High level alarm limit for LAH31)

b) Second (II) Trial PID SETPOINT (SV1): 200-600 mm PB1 : 10% TI1 : 15 secs TD1 : 0 sec PH1 : 640 mm

LIC31 is switched to Auto (A) mode when the level is near to the setpoint (SV1). The level (red pen) is observed at the recorder LFR31 until the response is almost steady i.e a straight line or displays oscillatory response even after 3 cycles. The setpoint and PID values are recorded on the chart paper.

The second trial PID values are set and then the recorder (LFR31) is switched on. The pump P32 is switched on and the level (PV1) increases.

Second trial(SV2) FIC31, PID2, Loop2 a) First (I) Trial PID SETPOINT (SV2): 0.9-2.4 m3/hr PB2 : 250% TI2 : 10 secs TD2 : 0 sec PH2 : 0.5 m3/hr (Do not change this low flow alarm limit for FAL31)

b) Second (II) Trial PID SETPOINT (SV2): 0.9-2.4 m3/hr PB2 : 100% TI2 : 6 secs TD2 : 0 sec PH2 : 0.5 m3/hr

LIC31 is switched to Auto (A) mode when the level is near to the set point (SV1). The level (red pen) is observed at the recorder LFR31 until the response is almost steady i.e a straight line or displays oscillatory response even after 3 cycles. The set point and PID values are recorded on the chart paper.

The shut down procedures is followed. After all recordings have been taken remove print out from recorder.
