    How to allocate a PDS?

    Type start 3.2 in the primary command line.

    Fill the following information to allocate the dataset. Then press ENTER.

    Dataset will be allocated. Message will be shown on right most TOP corner.

    Parameters Values SPACE CYLS/TRKS

    RECFM LRECL BLKSIZE Directory Blocks

    FB/VB 80 LRECL*10 0 for PS >0 -> for PDS

    Meaning Space units SPACE=((100,200,50),RLSE) Primary quantity= 100 cyls Secondary quantity = 200 Cyls Directory blocks = 50 RLSE = release the unused space Record format Logical record length Block size

    Dataset Name rules: Dataset name comprises of qualifiers. Each qualifier will have 1-8 characters. First letter of each qualifier should be alphabet. Each qualifier will be separated with a period. Length of dataset name should not exceed by 44 characters.
