VERB + TO-INFINITIVE
The verb patterns are dependent upon the first verb. There are several different types of pattern. When you learn a new verb, you need to learn the verb pattern. Verb + to+ infinitive: need to, offer to, fail to, refuse to, afford to, agree to, arrange to, ask to, consent to, choose to, decide to, expect to, learn to, manage to, promise to, tend to, hope to, hesitate to, learn to, offer to, plan to, pretend to, refuse to, threaten to, volunteer to. Example: The shop refused to accept the check He threatened to report their behaviour to the principal

Verbs which take this pattern include: advise, allow, ask, beg, command, encourage, enable, entitle, forbid, force, instruct, invite, oblige, order, permit, persuade, show, remind, tell, teach, warn.

Other verbs like this include: hate,* help, like, love, want, want, wish. *help can be also followed by bare infinitive. Ill help you (to) arrange the party
