OCTOBER
Our Week
Dear Parents, Last Wednesday I sent home a note regarding our Halloween celebration. Although the Kindergarten class will be in costume that day, we will still be attending Mass. We sit in the front pews, so remember that the costume must be appropriate for church. We will also be attending Mass the following day, November 1st for All Saints Day. This week in religion we will read, Chapter 7, Jesus is the Good Shepherd. We will read the bible story of the good shepherd. We will learn how Jesus is the good shepherd and how he cares for us. We will draw pictures of people who care for us and write a thank you note to someone who loves and cares for us. In Math we will match a number to a set of objects, name a shape piece using three attributes, identify a missing piece in a matrix, act out story problems using pennies and begin to learn how to identify time to the hour. In Reading we will begin to read about our next Superkid, Sal. Sal loves sports. We will learn to recognize and write the capital and lowercase s, identify the initial and final /s/ sound in words, draw conclusions from pictures, learn how to track print when we read and blend sounds to decode words.

In Science, we will continue to learn about our five senses. We will also learn more about the season of fall. In Social Studies we will review the reason for rules. God Bless, Mrs. Patsavas

Reminders
This week is Red Ribbon Week. There was a paper in your family envelope last week explaining some of our activities. Remember that this Wednesday we will have Reading Buddies. Students can bring to school a book with the color red on the cover. Also, on Thursday we will have a $1.00 out of uniform day. Students are asked to wear something red that day (red ribbon, red socks, red tie, red bracelet, etc...). Remember to keep bringing in your Pennies for Pies. Please remember to return the red folder tomorrow and the white home/school envelope to school on Thursday. Thank you! Parent Tip of the Week: To help your child with rhyming, try reading nursery rhymes or other stories with rhyming in them. Listening to stories with rhymes will help your child to identify rhyming words easier.
