HOW TO APPLY FOR A FEDERAL DIRECT PARENT PLUS LOAN

To be completed by a Parent of a dependent student attending Navarro College. This loan is to be used to assist the dependent student with college expenses.

Go online to the Navarro College web-page at www.navarrocollege.edu

2. Click on Financial Aid. 3. On the next page click on Loans. 4. Click on Parent PLUS Loans on the right side of the next page. Please read the information provided. 5. Click on complete a PLUS Loan Application. Click on the Login Box and provide the parents information, SSN, birth date, first two letters of last name, pin number. Click on Request a Direct Plus Loan. Click on Parent Plus to select the loan type. Your PLUS Loan application will authorize a credit check by the U.S. Department of Education. You will be notified if your PLUS loan has been approved or denied by the Department of Education. If your application is approved, the school will certify your loan and may adjust the loan period as well as the amount of the loan. Navarro College cannot award more than the cost of attending school here. If you want your student to receive the leftover funds from the PLUS loan after it has been applied to the students account, then you can indicate that it should go to the student on the application, otherwise it will be sent by paper check to the parent. If your application is denied, your student will be evaluated for an additional unsubsidized loan of up to $4000. The student will need to go online to Web Advisor to accept/reject the additional loan. If the student would like to have the additional loan reduced, please notify the Financial Aid Office.
