Abstract for side wall coring tool

MECHANISM:- Pulley mechanism used to take out core sample.

Construction of the side wall coring tool:Our model consists of a long iron rod .There are four cutters(barrel pieces)which are mounted on this iron rod with the help of gas welding(mechanical operation). Bolts are welded such that barrel piece smoothly rotates on it.We have used nylon rope to rotate cutters above from the well. But cutters does not rotate as nylon rope slides on the G.I. barrel piece. To overcome this problem we have created friction on the barrel piece with the help of other rope is wounded on barrel piece so that rope rotates barrel piece. WORKING:There are four thick ropes each of them are wounded on the cutters and the two ends of the wires of each cutters are brought out and knotted. We have made some teeths on the barrel piece so that it can easily penetrate into the rock and look like a drilling tool. When the ends of the wires are rotated in clockwise direction, then the cutters will also rotate in clockwise direction and will penetrate through the side wall and get some core sample in its hollow interior. Similar procedures will be followed for the remaining cutters.

And finally we will take out this tool from the well and we will get core sample.
