are groups of people who work independently towards some purpose. they are people who work together to achieve a set of goals.

is unlivable without organizations. this is a broad statement about the usefulness of organizations in any society. main objectives are: To increase specialization and the division of labour To use large scale technology To manage external environment To economize the transaction cost( transaction costs are negotiating, monitoring, and governing exchanges between people) To exert power and control

Behaviour Structure Process

Behaviour:

includes how individuals respond to situations exposed to them. The study of perception, job satisfaction, motivation, and learning are all concerned with the behaviour of individuals. Structure: formal relationships of the organisation. such as how jobs are assigned to various departments, who reports to whom, and how departments are arranged

Process

: refers to the interaction among the members of the organisation. Communication, leadership and power are examples of this.

organisations: the prime beneficiaries are the clients. As schools, universities, hospitals social welfare agencies etc. Commonwealth organisations: the public is their beneficiary. As post offices, army, police department, fire fighting department etc.
