The Fall of The House of Usher

After reading both excerpts, I felt that I could generate more ideas out of The Fall of The House of Usher, I found it much more creatively challenging and richly deep.

Influential Thumbnails Scene 1

Originally I was planning on doing Scene one as a mid close up shot of the house its self. So I designed this mansion from influences from 18oos architecture.

This was initially a staircase but because of the peculiar angle it made it look more flat like a footbridge. After seeing it like this my final scene idea started to morph itself quickly.

When my initial idea of the house came into apparition, I started to think more of the space that the House itself would sit in, as this was the main objective of this project. So I imagined the vast isolated space that this house could be in to match the theme of the book.

Influential Thumbnails Scene 2

After doing some more visual research I started to look at the composition of the scene, this one inspired me to work on it more to create a rich scene.

This was a rough, quickly drawn sketch of my initial idea of what the front of a grand mansion would look like.

Influential Thumbnails Scene 2

This was the most influential thumbnail for this scene, this was produced after a series of research into mansion entrances. One aspect of research started to look at the mansion used in the 90s sitcom by Will Smith; The Fresh Prince of Bell Air. But I was weary of unintentionally producing blatant example of plagiarism so I swiftly stopped looking at the images.
