THE YIN

The Yin the man The Yang night club has a sole purpose of entertaining. It is 3 story development located in a remote island in the pacific. The design inspiration was based on the buildings I have studied being IAC and Nunotani Corporation Headquarters from these buildings come to two concepts to base my design on BRUTALISM and CONTRAST, with this in mind I have taken the Chinese philosophy to embrace my contrast concept. The night club is spilt into the 2 sections the North aka The Yin side being more natural in materials and finishes such as wood, glass, ceramic tiles using a smoother edges a circular geometry finished with brighter colours giving a warm comfortable feelings. The South aka The Yang is finished in rough and untreated materials such as steel and concrete the materials a left fairly raw with bland grey scale colours giving a feeling of coldness.

The centre of the building is what I call the man where there is a combination of the warm comfortable energy with the cold dark. Example of this is in the handrails the combination of circular glass posts and angular steel mesh finish and the middle bar geometry used. T he building is extremely intricate that it is brutalism in its concepts to its natural surrounding environment on matter what side or angel you look the unique feature just comes at you very hard to ignore .
