Year 6 History

Investigate the contribution of individuals, particularly Aboriginal people and/or Torres Strait Islanders and migrants, to the development of Australian society, for example in areas such as the economy, education, science, the arts, sport. Task Conduct research on notable individuals in Australian public life who have come from a migrant, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. Find one individual (of migrant, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background) who has been influential to Australia for each of the following domains: Arts Sports Education Economy Science Find and document basic information on their background and achievements in these areas Choose one of your five individuals and: Research in greater detail, their historical context, early life and achievements. If you were to meet them, think of at least EIGHT inquiry questions you would ask them. Identify and locate relevant sources and gather information on each of your inquiry questions. Write an autobiographical account in first person (from the perspective of your chosen notable individual) and include descriptions of their context, early life, achievements and answers to your questions. Include a bibliography of the main sources used. Check
