SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY Fort Bend Independent School District is located in the northeast part of Fort Bend County, immediately southwest of Houston and Harris County. The Fort Bend Independent School District encompasses the incorporated cities of Missouri City, Sugar Land, Arcola, Meadows, and a small portion of Houston. It covers 174 square miles. Within the district are 45 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, 11 senior high schools, one alternative high school, two Centers for Learning and a Technical Education Center.

CURRICULUM
Elkins provides a strong academic program with more than 200 possible course selections including an extensive vocational-technical curriculum. Options are available for students to earn college credit during the school day. Advanced placement courses are available in English, calculus, statistics, chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, studio art, art history, U.S. history, psychology, government, economics, Spanish, and French UIL-sponsored athletic programs for young men and women are offered in football, basketball, tennis, track, soccer, golf, swimming, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Co-curricular programs include choir, band, drill team, student government, service and academic clubs, athletics and Academic Decathlon Gifted and Talented programs are available in English, math, social studies, and science. The honors program offers courses in English, math, science, social studies, foreign languages, and music. Instruction is available for special needs through Special Education, English for Speakers of other Languages, and 504 services
