Teachers for a New Unionism is a teacher-led organization providing K-12 educators the training and support they need

to take an active role in their unions and promote policies that work for students. Your voice is needed this year to help ensure that reform is a top priority in the UTLA House of Representatives. This year, UTLAs House of Representatives will hold elections to fill about 280 open seats - Teachers for a New Unionism (TNU) wants you to be one of them. We are here to help teachers get involved in the issue areas that affect them most, such as professional development, multiple measure evaluation systems, administrator accountability, curriculum changes, and collective bargaining. All teachers should have their voices heard, and we each have the opportunity to play a vital role in the unions policy-making and direction, including and especially those without direct union experience. At TNU, we believe in: Helping K-12 teachers take leadership roles in their unions Improving student outcomes and rewarding great teaching Promoting union policies that advance the teaching profession Supporting due process and accountability to help end RIFS, furloughs and displacements Advocating for rigorous multiple measure teacher evaluation Teachers are the expert educators and we need to take a leading role in the development of policy and evaluation systems. These systems should help all teachers reach their full potential. The UTLA exists to represent teachers, and they need to know who they are representing by hearing directly from the source you! We believe that one teacher can make a difference and by joining the UTLA House of Representatives, you can have a say in these issues. Any UTLA member in good standing can self-nominate. There are only seven required meetings per year, and childcare and dinner are provided. Meetings are held at the UTLA building on Wilshire Blvd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. You may fill out a post-card and we can contact you to alert you when nominations are open. Or, you may visit www.teachersforanewunionism.org any time after September 21st to download a self-nomination form. Submit your completed form to: Secretary Office at UTLA 3303 Wilshire Blvd. 10th Floor Los Angeles, CA 90010
