What Were Learning

Reading: We will work with non-fiction texts that center around historical events and scientific concepts. We will compare how different books about the same concepts are related. Spelling Words: just, called, most, know, where, next, clean, least, leaf, keep (Challenge Words: because, especially) *Our Words Their Way focus is on spelling patterns that make short and long e sound. Writing: We will continue working on informational writing about Tomochichi, James Oglethorpe, and Mary Musgrove. Math: We will continue to work on addition and subtraction strategies. We will practice completing some constructed responses like I showed at conferences. Science: We will continue our unit on Energy. Classroom News & Reminders * I am in need of old kid-friendly magazines that can be donated to our classroom. *We also need some playground balls. Common Core Tip of the Week When your child comes across a word that they dont know the meaning of, encourage them to reread and use the other words in the sentence and pictures to guess the meaning.
